I Wish I May: A Tale of the Fourth Millennium

iwishimayA classic science fiction adventure novel. Earth’s spirit and technology has bought an empire in the stars. Earth manages thousands of planets in a two hundred light year sphere surrounding the home planet and it is a golden age for mankind. Yet, the great minds who run the Congress of Planets believe its burgeoning planetary populations will soon reach socio-political critical mass, a point the Regent, Earth’s most powerful and responsible human believes will become the long road down.

Earth needs more planets, and fast, but it can only settle new worlds within the parameters of known physics. Now an alien ship of unknown design arrives, suggesting to those in power that it has the answer to Earth’s need for an improved hyperdrive, its faster than light engine. The single being who lands on Earth provides credible evidence that it has come from a distance more than four times further than Earth’s capability has taken it, and far quicker.

The tale begins with Earth’s decision to send sixteen of its number to the alien’s planet, Cowgres, to learn the secret of the super hyperdrive. They soon discover that nothing is as it seemed, and learn the alien’s agenda only too late, nine hundred light years too late.
